Linux Security Engineer

Job Description:

Linux Security engineer is responsible for the hardening and verification of the security posture of Linux-based computer systems. This position requires a strong computer systems background with a focus on Linux systems administration and configuration, including scripting, hardening and networking. Emphasis is on a working knowledge of Linux operating system along with the ability to learn Cyber Security techniques. The ability to travel to installation sites to support cyber security related activities is a requirement. Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience, and three years experience in related field.

Job Requirements:

  •  Minimum BS in Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Proficiency with Linux system administration, including kernel configuration, installation and migration, pam and yum.
  •  Experience with Linux scripting tools (Python, sh, awk, sed, etc.).
  • Candidate must be able to work in a team environment, or independently, as necessary, and be a self-starter who will manage assignments and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Familiarity with information assurance/cyber security in a DoD environment considered an advantage
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMWare, etc.).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must be a US Citizen.  
  • Must have or be able to retain a Department of Defense Security clearance.

  • Required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.
  • Required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Available to perform travel from time to time
  • Candidate must be able to work in small confined spaces (simulator cockpits)
