TAMPA, Florida (15 March 2011) – Aero Simulation, Inc. (ASI) has been selected by Rockwell Collins to support a major modification and upgrade of the U.S. Navy’s existing E-2C Operational Flight Trainers (OFTs), Device 2F110 located at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia (VA), and Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), Point Mugu, California (CA).
Under the program, ASI will perform a number of modifications to each trainer, including replacement of the Host Computer, Control Loading, Instructor/Operator, Audio Communications and Aural Cueing Systems, CNS/ATM upgrades, redesign of the Input/Output Interface System, Aerodynamic (Aero) modeling, replacement of the existing motion systems with a motion/vibration system and the implementation of Information Assurance controls. Each trainer will be modified in ASI’s recently expanded 52,000 square foot Tampa facility.
“ASI is extremely pleased with the confidence the U.S. Navy continues to place in our team’s ability to fully satisfy E-2 flight training requirements” said Dr. Michael McCarthy, ASI’s President. “Our excellent past performance for the E-2 and C-2A communities and our best value solution for this major upgrade program clearly provided the foundation for this important award. We’re very excited to continue our work as a Principal Subcontractor to Rockwell Collins and look forward to our successful deliveries in support of the Navy’s E-2 training requirements.”
