Job Description:  

The Mechanical Engineer interprets contract requirements, performs research and analysis as required, and produces design documentation of complex assemblies and components associated with simulation and training devices in accordance with those requirements using Solidworks parametric modeling software. On occasion, existing designs documented in AutoCAD or other CAD programs will be used as a baseline and updated. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with Electrical Engineering, Project Engineering, and Mechanical CAD design/drafters to achieve the release of production drawing packages that are released for manufacture. The Mechanical Engineer will provide support to functions of project engineering, systems engineering, production control, manufacturing, and logistics throughout the course of the project(s) assigned. The Mechanical Engineer will produce and present design review presentation materials for in-house peer reviews and Customer reviews.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of/experience using terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of Mechanical Engineering utilizing parametric modeling programs, preferably Solidworks.
  • Knowledge of common software programs used to communicate to others in an engineering environment such as Microsoft Windows, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Available for limited travel and occasional overtime.
  • Able to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance (Secret Level)
  • Able to work well with others in a collaborative engineering environment

General Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering supplemented by advanced course work or practical experience using parametric modeling software programs.
  • One to five-plus years of mechanical engineering experience preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge and experience with simulators a strong plus.
  • Must be proficient with Solidworks design software with some AutoCad experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with customers at all levels.
  • Very good organization and time management skills to support multiple projects in parallel.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, or independently, as necessary, and be a self-starter who will attack designs and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Department of Defense Security clearance.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Required to talk and hear.
  • Required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel, and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.
  • Required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • The candidate must be able to work in small confined spaces (simulator cockpits).
  • Fluent in English.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment is primarily a traditional office.
  • Occasional working environment includes the manufacturing floor or simulator installation site where the noise level may increase to moderate or high. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
