(draft text fodder from Jim, take any chuck or none; lots of repeat stuff, but it’s a start)
ASI’s respect for Quality assurance (QA) goes beyond the process. For ASI, QA is a core principle throughout design, build, testing, delivery, and acceptance.
QA helps prevent missteps, waste, safety concerns, and potential defects in the design and manufactured of our products and aids in avoiding problems while delivering solutions and services to our customers.
ISO 9000 defines QA as “part of quality management focused on providing confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled”.
Our QA process includes two principles: “Fit for purpose” (the product should be suitable for the intended purpose); and “right first time” (mistakes should be eliminated). QA includes management of the quality of raw materials, assemblies, products, components, documentation, and all services related to production, management, testing, and inspection.
The two principles manifest themselves before the first keystroke in the design phase and again at the last signature on the DD250. The task of engineering is to make it work, while the task of quality assurance is to make it work all the time.
