ASI Leverages Proven RASTER System for Advanced Military Training
Tampa, FL (September 26, 2024) - ASI continues to build on the success of its Reconfigurable Architecture for Simulation Training, Engineering, and Rehearsal (RASTER), a revolutionary training solution that has been streamlining military training systems for several years. Developed by ASI through a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract for the B-1B Lancer, RASTER has proven its value by bringing commonality to various mission platforms and devices, reducing lifecycle costs, simplifying platform concurrency, and ensuring seamless system upgrades.
RASTER integrates actual platform Operational Flight Programs (OFPs) with minimal modifications, allowing high-fidelity simulations across platforms ranging from Virtual Reality (VR) devices to large-scale operational trainers. By implementing a modular, open architecture that extends to land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace domains, RASTER has become a cornerstone of ASI’s training systems.
“RASTER has the power to drastically improve concurrency and sustainability of any training system,” said Joel Jolley, ASI’s Vice President of Business Development. “From cybersecurity to avionics concurrency, the architecture allows a customer to develop any type of device they want, without re-creating the software wheel every time the platform or hardware changes, while allowing the same mission systems and training throughout the spectrum of devices.”
A key feature of RASTER is its ability to remove dependance on platform common hardware and embedded systems, which enables mission training and rehearsal using real platform software on Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware. ASI uses RASTER to update legacy training systems or design and build new systems and deliver cost-effective, high-performance solutions across a wide array of hardware fidelity. As part of the SBIR Phase III program, RASTER continues to be a reliable, scalable architecture for today’s military training needs.
